Step 1
Eat at least three meals a day. If you miss meals, your blood sugar level can drop to a range that is too low and it may stay that way for an extended period of time. This can cause your adrenal glands to work harder than they should in order to produce the hormone cortisol, in an effort to bring your blood sugar levels back up to the normal range. This over production can leave you feeling fatigued and tired
-
Step 2
Include multiple sources of protein in your diet. Protein is an effective fatigue treatment because it keeps your blood sugar level stable. It also increases your metabolism, which helps boost energy levels. Foods that are high in protein include soy milk, eggs, poultry, lean meats, fish, grains, and nuts and seeds. Avoid eating a lot of carbs because they can leave you feeling lethargic.
-
Step 3
Drink plenty of water. Dehydration can cause you to become tired and weak. Try to drink around eight glasses of water daily.
-
Step 4
Get physically active. One sure way to cure fatigue is to get your blood pumping and circulating. Go for a bike ride or take a brisk walk. You can also walk up and down a flight of stairs, or do squats and lunges. This will help you feel more alert and energized.
-
Step 5
Sleep at least 8 hours each night. Your schedule may make this difficult to do, but it's important because a lack of sleep cause your energy level to drop. If you can't get 8 hours of sleep, try going to bed at least 30 minutes earlier than usual. The extra minutes of sleep will make a difference in your energy level the next day.
-
Step 6
Shed excess pounds. Walking around with extra weight puts an unnecessary strain the body. Just losing 10 pounds can boost energy and increase mobility.
