How to Clean a Chrome Finish Bathroom Faucet

Chrome bathroom faucets can get dirty and dingy very quickly and can suffer from unsightly water stains and water spots. Luckily, fixtures that are plated with chromium are pretty easy to keep shiny and looking new. Just clean them regularly with the right cleaner and then polish them with metal polish.

Things You'll Need

• Soap and water
• Lint-free rags
• Toothbrush or other small brush
• Chrome cleaner
• Chrome polish
• White vinegar or rubbing alcohol

Instructions

1. Clean the fixtures thoroughly with warm water and a mild soap that will not damage the chrome. Avoid using an abrasive cleaner, as that will harm the chrome if is rubbed on too hard.

2. Dry the chrome with lint free rags.

3. Clean the chrome thoroughly with a cleaner specifically for chrome and stainless steel using a small brush like a toothbrush to get to the hard to reach areas. Dry the chrome.

4. If there are persistent stains that will not come out with the chrome cleaner, use a chrome polishing compound.

5. Rub the polish onto the surface of the chrome.

6. Let the polish dry and then wipe off with a clean dry rag. Buff the chrome once the polish is removed with another rag to really give it a brilliant shine.

7. For more persistent stains, use white vinegar or rubbing alcohol on a rag. Polish the chrome after you use these cleaners as well.
