Instructions

    • 1

Paint your walls in a lovely yellow color. To choose the exact hue, visit a home-improvement or paint store and grab some samples. Pick one out that reminds you of your honey-making friends.

    • 2

Turn your attention to the appliances. If you own them, paint them black with appliance paint. This is the best color choice for decorating a kitchen in a bee theme, but if it is too dark for your tastes, you can just freshen up any color with appliance paint to match.

    • 3

Paint your cupboards black to match your appliances. If that is too much, pick up some honeybee stencils and incorporate the bees into the interior design project in that way. These stencils can also be used along the top of your walls to create a custom border around the room.

    • 4

Change out your flooring and countertops. Going with a standard black will enable you to change out the decor easier if your tastes change later on. Otherwise, go the full mile by alternating bold black and yellow squares in tile or linoleum and laminate.

    • 5

Create a fun backsplash with black and yellow tiles. You can go the standard route of alternating them as you did on the countertops and flooring or you can create a more solid pattern to break things up. Simply pick the dominant color that you like the most and create just one stripe through the length of the backsplash in the center with the opposite hue to abstractly represent the bumblebees you love so much.

    • 6

Stick on a fun tile decal here and there that show honeybees, hives and flowers. You can dress up every existing tile with a decal as well. This is a great option when trying to figure out how to decorate a kitchen in a bee theme and you have a back-splash that you can't change out at this time.

Bring in the rest of your decor items. If you cannot find ones to match your style, make your own dishtowels and pot holders. Buy ones in a solid yellow and iron on pictures of the buzzing bumblebees, honey pots and flowers.

Finish the room off with small details. Check out hardware, magnets and other smaller items that are often overlooked in interior design projects. All of this can be found to match.
