How to Wrap Foot Arches

A fallen foot arch, also known as "Pes Planus," is when the arch of your foot collapses and makes contact with the ground. If you allow a fallen arch to go untreated, it can cause you greater problems in the long term, such as knee pain, shin splints, and inflammation of the Achilles tendon. There are many bandage wraps on the market that can be purchased over the counter to treat Pes Planus. If using the over the counter wraps do not prove effective, you should consult your health care provider for custom treatment.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase an elastic bandage wrap for your arch, along with bandage clips from your local pharmacy or department store. There are also bandages that you can purchase over the counter that do not require clips, but instead uses a velcro type of effect to adhere the bandage to itself.

    • 2

Place the beginning of the wrap underneath the arch of your foot, where the ball of your foot and arch meet. Hold the end of the wrap in place with one of your hands as you continue the wrapping process with your other hand.

    • 3

Pulling the wrap tightly, bring the wrap over the top of your foot and then underneath your arch. Don't pull the wrap so tight that it cuts off your circulation. You just want to pull it tight enough to offer firm support.

    • 4

Bring the wrap across the top of your foot and around your ankle.

    • 5

Now place the wrap across the top of your foot and underneath your arch.

    • 6

Repeat steps 4 and 5 until the entire bandage has been wrapped around your arch.

    • 7

Secure the bandage with the bandage clips.
