2. Scroll right to the "Free Apps" column. This shows the top 10 free apps on the iTunes Store. These often feature games, so click "See all" to see more free apps. They're automatically sorted by bestselling, so scroll down to find the top-rated free iPhone apps.

3. Ask friends who have iPhones for their recommendations. A free app might have a lot of downloads, but people who've used the apps will have the inside scoop on whether it stands the test of time.
