Microsoft Windows includes a free text-editing program called WordPad. This simple program is more powerful than Notepad but less powerful than Microsoft Word. For example, users can create a drawing directly within Word. Occasionally, you may want to copy a drawing from Microsoft Word to WordPad.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Select the drawing in Microsoft Word with the selection tool. You must select the actual box containing the drawing. If you attempt to select the drawing by highlighting it with the text-editing tool, the drawing will not copy. Make sure that the image box in Microsoft Word is the size you want in WordPad; If you attempt to resize the image box after copying the image to WordPad, the image will also change.

  2. Step 2

In Miscrosoft Word, select "Edit>Copy" or press "Control+C" to copy the image. This places the drawing in Window's clipboard.

  3. Step 3

Select the Windows "Start" button and navigate to WordPad. WordPad is usually located in the "Accessories" folder. Once WordPad boots, position the cursor where you want the drawing to appear.

  4. Step 4

In WordPad, select "Edit>Paste" or press "Control+V" to paste the image. This will place image within an image box in the WordPad document.
