How to Boil Pumpkin Seeds

While carving a pumpkin, most people throw away the seeds. Pumpkin seeds are not only edible, but make a wonderful snack. There are several different ways to prepare pumpkin seeds for consumption. Whether you are roasting them or adding them to a bread, most recipes will call for you to boil the pumpkin seeds first.   • Colander
  • Paper towel
  • Cooking pot
  • Stove

Instructions

      Place your seeds into a colander.

      Place the colander under a stream of water from your kitchen sink. Clean the seeds thoroughly. Running your hands over the seeds as you rinse them with water will help.

      Set seeds onto a paper towel and allow to dry. Pick through them and discard any seeds that look cracked or damaged.

      Fill your cooking pot with water and set on your stove. Turn your burner on and bring the water to a boil.

      Place your pumpkin seeds directly into your boiling water.

      Reduce the heat on your burner to medium and allow the seeds to boil for 10 minutes.

      Rinse out your colander while the pumpkin seeds are boiling.

      Turn your burner off and drain the pumpkin seeds into your colander.

      Transfer your seeds to a second paper towel and allow them to dry.
