How to Learn Korean Games

Korean games vary from card games to traditional board games and various other social games played at gatherings. Modern games are not well catalogued or fully explained on the Internet and are better learned in person. Traditional games, however, are well explained in many online sites. Other than learning Korean games through a well-informed person, it will be much easier to learn through the web, than to purchase books or culture guides.

Instructions

    • 1

Open a web browser and go to www.lifeinkorea.com, and click the "Activities" tab near the top of the screen. Be careful not to click the "Information" tab or the "Culture" tab.

    • 2

Click the "Korean sports and games" link under the category "Sports." Directly clicking the "Sports" link will lead only to modern sports played in Korea.

    • 3

Browse through the list of summarized traditional Korean games. There are helpful links that link to additional information.

    • 4

If you want to learn the comprehensive rules for a game listed, search the Korean game name through an online search engine.

Tips & Warnings

  • It sometimes may be difficult to find the exact rules for a game that one is interested to learn about. Although searching through online search engines should suffice, searching for books on a particular Korean traditional game of interest will provide additional information, if necessary.
