How to Turn a Bedroom Into a Party Room
Turning a bedroom into a party room can be a challenge, but the end result will be well worth the effort. The smaller the room, the more difficult it will be to decorate and make appealing. A room that is at least 12 feet by 12 feet can be decorated nicely, but something larger than that would be ideal. The idea behind decorating a bedroom for a party is to use elements that will create the illusion of space and depth. You certainly don't want to overdo it with design on this type of project because having too much going on is worse than not having enough. Does this Spark an idea?

How to Turn a Bedroom Into a Party Room
-
1
Hang rectangular panel mirrors horizontally along the wall opposite the door, if possible. Evenly space these about 6 inches apart. This will help to make the room appear larger.
-
2
Set up two cafe tables with two high chairs each in the two corners opposite the door. This will provide seating and conversation areas for guests to sit and eat or drink. Placing the tables away from each other will allow space for people to walk and stand at the tables as well.

-
3
Place a wickless candle on each of the tables. Wickless candles are battery-operated and more practical in small rooms, because a room can become quite hot when even just one traditional candle is lit.
-
4
Hang the disco ball from the ceiling in the middle of the room. This will provide a party atmosphere and add ambiance as guests dance.
-
5
Arrange throw pillows on the bed for guests to sit on. If the bed is a full-size bed, bean-bag chairs can be placed on the bed for guests to lean on. A twin-size bed is small enough that the throw pillows can provide enough cushion to lean against. Some of the throw pillows can be placed on the floor for additional seating as well.
-
6
Place the rolling bar in an empty corner of the room so that it is sitting diagonally. Stock the bar with beverages of your choice---liquor, mixers, etc.---and barware, such as glasses or mugs.
-
7
Swag the mini-lights from corner to corner, attaching them at ceiling height. These lights will provide additional mood lighting and enhance the atmosphere.
-
8
Set the stereo on a dresser top or on a corner of the bar, if necessary. In lieu of a stereo, you could use an iPod docking station, which would take up less room.

Tips & Warnings
Turning a bedroom into a party room works best if you can remove most of the furniture from the room. If you have to keep a dresser or chest in the room, just clear the top and cover with a placemat and another wickless candle. This could be turned into a focal point for a conversation area.
If you are having a theme party, you can hang decorations on the walls and place knick-knacks on the tables to match your theme.
Stick with a light-colored decorating scheme for curtains, chair fabric and bed throws. Choose a light color for the floor. If there is dark carpet on the floor, cover it up with a light-colored area rug.
