How to Reduce Size of Files in Paint Shop Pro

Paint Shop Pro is a powerful and low-cost image creation and editing utility that rivals Photoshop in terms of features while costing significantly less. One of the most useful features of Paint Shop Pro is its ability to reduce the file size of JPG images without reducing their physical dimensions. Reduce the file size of your JPG images by adjusting the compression settings in Paint Shop Pro.

Instructions

1. Launch Paint Shop Pro and open the image that you wish to reduce.

2. Hit "F12" on the keyboard, or click "File" at the top of the screen, and "Save As."

3. Click the drop-down menu next to "Save as type," and select "JPG JPEG."

4. Click the "Options" button.

5. Adjust the "Compression Factor" slider to change the file size of the image. A higher number, up to a limit of 99, will result in a smaller file, but a poorer-quality image. In general, a compression factor of 7 tends to result in an excellent image with a small file size.

6. Click "OK," then click "Save" to finalize your change.
