How to Convert Rich Text to HTML in Outlook 2000

Microsoft Office Outlook 2000 allows users to send, receive and view emails in a variety of formats. You can convert email messages between some formats in Outlook, but you can't convert directly from RTF (rich text format) to HTML. You must first convert from RTF to plain text, and then convert the resulting message into HTML.

Instructions

    • 1

Open an email message that is in Rich Text Format.

    • 2

Click the "Format" link in the menu bar of the email message, then click the "Plain Text" link in the drop-down menu. This converts the email to plain text. Remember: When you convert from RTF to plain text, all text formatting is lost.

    • 3

Click the "Format" link in the menu bar again, then click the "HTML" link in the drop-down menu. This converts the email message to HTML format.

    • 4

Adjust the font, font size, colors, text formatting and bullet options using the options in the "Formatting" toolbar as needed to complete the process.
