Cleaning your PC registry is one of the best things you can do to keep your PC running fast and efficiently. Cleaning the PC registry is also something most don't know about. Most people are also terrified of cleaning the Windows PC registry. If your PC is running very slow, applications don't load properly and you are getting error pop ups then you probably need to clean your PC registry. The PC registry gets clogged up with information over time and can completely slow down your PC. Manually cleaning the registry is risky and not for the average user. The first thing you need to do is get a good registry cleaner software application. There are some resources below that will give you reviews of the top pc registry cleaners. There are free cleaners but in general you get what you pay for. Free cleaners frequently will only do a very limited amount of clean up or worse could even damage your PC. Most good registry cleaners will let you download the software and scan for free to see if you like it. You will then get a report of all the errors but won't be able to fix them unless you buy the software. This is a good way to see if you like the software. Just please don't download just anything. Take a little time to read about a few of the best most recommended pc registry cleaners and try those.

Using the free Microsoft cleaner is a good option if you don't or can't buy a registry cleaner but it can take a long time to run, up to several hours. The free windows cleaner will scan for viruses, disk clean up and defrag as well as a registry cleaner scan. This software doesn't come on your computer. Look at the resources below to go to the website to get it for free. This software is Microsoft and can be trusted. Warning though it can take a long time. A registry cleaner you purchase will only take up to 15 minutes or quicker to run a scan.

Once you have your PC registry selected and downloaded on your PC and your PC backed up run a scan. There should be a button that says "Scan Registry" or "Check Registry", something intuitive for you to click. You will see a lot of errors if this is the first time you have ever scanned your PC.

Your registry cleaner will either have a setting or will ask you if you want to manually fix the errors or automatically do it. Unless you are very technical you should use the automatic feature. You should select the button that says, "fix" or "repair" or something similar to that after the scan results. In just a matter of a minute or less your registry will be clean.

Reboot your system. Your PC should run faster and applications should load faster.

Clean your registry about every month unless you notice performance problems. If you clean your PC more often you won't hurt it.
