So you have the DVR box but for some reason it is not working correctly. You can see any channels nor can you change the channel. After many hassles with the DVR I have had to call Time Warner' s customer service many times and I now know how to reboot the DVR without their assistance.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Time Warner DVR Box
  • A reason to reboot the DVR
  1. Step 1

First in order to reboot a DVR it must stay plugged in while you do this. I know this may seem like common sense but believe me it is not. So make sure the unit is plugged in while you reboot it.

  2. Step 2

Hold down the power button on the DVR box until you see that it shuts down the clock on the DVR. Do not unplug the unit at anytime while completing this reboot. This starts the rebooting process for the DVR.

  3. Step 3

Wait until the DVR turns back on itself and allow it to do whatever it needs to. You will see several screens throughout the reboot process however this is normal.

  4. Step 4

Once complete this reboot should help stop any problems you were currently having with the DVR. If not try to reboot again and if that still does not help the problem than contact customer support at Time Warner.

Tips & Warnings
  • Nine times out of ten all the DVR needs is a reboot.
  • If you see the codes stopping in a certain area let customer service know where it stopped in the process they might be able to assist you more with fixing the problem.
  • NEVER, NEVER unplug the DVR or TV while doing this reboot method.
