Things You'll Need:
- nail polish clear
- nail polish remover
- nail brush
- emery board
- orange stick
- cuticle cream
- cotton balls
- warm sudsy water
- bowl for warm water
- hand towel
-
Step 1
manicure tipsFirst wash hands. It's always a good idea to start with clean hands. Wait until hands are completely dry before continuing with the manicure.
-
Step 2
Now, wipe off all the old nail polish with a cotton ball that has been dipped in nail polish remover. Always use nail polish removers with conditioners in the ingredients. These added conditioners help maintain and grow healthy nails.
-
Step 3
Wait until the hands and nails are dry. Then, take an emery board and file down the sides of the nail. Only file in one direction. Do not file back and forth. This weakens the nail. Form the nail into the shape desired. Note: oval shapes look good on most nails.
-
Step 4
Next, soak the nails in warm sudsy water. This helps to soften the nails. Now take a nail brush and clean the nails.
-
Step 5
Dry fingers and push back the cuticles with a soft swab. Apply cuticle cream and continue pushing back the nails with the swab or an orange stick wrapped in cotton.
-
Step 6
Make sure cotton is wrapped over the orange stick and dip in sudsy water. Now, clean under the nail thoroughly.
-
Step 7
Now, apply a coat of clear nail polish to nails. The clear polish also makes an excellent base coat before applying color nail polish.
