  1. Step 1

The first step is to consider the time of year in which you are throwing the baby shower or baptism. If it is in the Fall and close to Thanksgiving, consider cookie favors in the shapes of turkeys. Whether they are store bought or homemade cookies, make sure that they are embellished. Royal icing, melted chocolate, sprinkles, and various other toppings are great choices for dressing up plain cookies. For Thanksgiving turkey cookies, decorate the turkey feathers in a variety of fall colors and make sure each turkey has eyes. Remember, they are for an occasion celebrating a baby so they should be cute looking. Place two or more turkey cookies in a treat bag, tie with ribbon or raffia sting, which would be in keeping with the Thanksgiving holiday look, and don't forget the party favor gift tag or label. The turkey cookies featured in the photo were created with a gift tag that reads "For our little turkey!"

  2. Step 2
    Angel Cookie Party Favors

Another terrific cookie favor idea is cookies in the shapes of angels. You could use all one shape or find two or more cookie cutters in different angel shapes. Again, whether you have them made or you make them yourself, make sure they are eye catching. Some ways to embellish angels could be candy silver balls, pink and white sugar crystals and fabric bows either tied onto each cookie or adhered to the surface of the cookie with a little royal icing. In the photo, you'll see to angel cookies, decorated with pink sugar crystals, candy silver balls and a gold bow that was glued on with a dab of royal icing. This is a very simple idea and so beautiful. Place two or more angel cookies in each treat bag, tie with a gold or silver ribbon and a favor gift tag to finish it off. The angel cookies featured in the photo were created with a gift tag that reads "God Bless our little angel on this her Baptism Day!"

  3. Step 3

The third idea for a homemade party favor for a baptism or baby shower is cookies in the shapes of stars and moons. You could decorate the stars with yellow sugar crystals and the moons with light blue sugar crystals as shown in the photo. I also embellished each cookie with candy silver balls. You could pipe melted chocolate across each cookie in the same color as the sugar crystals or use white chocolate so that it contrasts the sugar. Once the cookies are completely decorated and have dried, place two or more cookies in each of the treat bags. Tie each bag with ribbons that complement the look and finish it off with a party favor gift tag. The stars and moons cookies that are featured in the photo were created with a gift tag that reads "You are the sun and the moon and the stars to me!"

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember, when you are decorating your cookies, you may want to avoid decorating with nuts or have a few cookie party favors on hand without nuts for guests with nut allergies.
  • Consider the weather when storing and transporting your cookie party favors. If its hot out, travel with them in a cooler to keep icing and chocolate from melting.
