Always Wear the Proper Exercise Shoes for your Workout

The right pair of exercise shoes not only provides comfort during your workout, but also prevents injuries from occurring. Keep the following tips in mind the next time you are shopping for exercise shoes.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Don't shop for new exercise shoes first thing in the morning. Feet actually swell over the course of the day making your shoe size actually bigger. Rather, go shopping mid-afternoon to early evening instead.

  2. Step 2

Never buy exercise shoes based on your size without trying them on first. A perfect fit means that you can easily wiggle and move your toes comfortably. The back of the shoe should fit snug against your heel and not flop around as you walk. Try them on with the socks you would normally wear during your workout.

  3. Step 3

Talk to an exercise trainer or shoe salesperson. Tell them what type of exercise regimen you follow. Since there are shoes designed for walking, running, and even tennis, a professional can recommend which type of exercise shoes would be best for you.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always replace your exercise shoes every few months to maintain proper cushioning and support during your workout.
