Appling face moisturizers are an important part of keeping your skin healthy and protected. This skin care product protects your skin from the cold, sun and wind. It prepares your skin for makeup by keeping your skin smooth and supple. This allows your make up to go on smoother and last longer. Face moisturizers are designed to keep the moisture in your skin from evaporating and prevent the skin from looking dehydrated. A moisturizer should be used every day to keep your skin hydrated and healthy looking.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Use a mild cleanser and wash your face and hands. The best time to apply the moisturizer is just after washing of skin, when it is damp not wet. Damp skin will soak up the most moisture and allow your face moisturizer to lock in the water. If you are using toner it is important to still apply the moisturizer when your skin is damp with the toner.

  2. Step 2

Take moisturizer in your palms and spread it gently on your face using upward-circular motions. Starting in the center of your face apply the moisturizer up and out. Apply it to your neck in upward strokes.

  3. Step 3

Avoid using moisturizer around the eyes because moisturizers can be too heavy for the skin in this area. The skin is different around the eyes and moisturizers can cause them to become puffy by retaining fluid. Stick to eye creams for best results.

  4. Step 4

Apply face moisturizer twice a day if your skin is dry. People with oily skin only need to apply it once a day.

  5. Step 5

Use a skin moisturizer with SPF 15 or higher for protection during the daytime, but avoid it at night. Moisturizers with SPF can clog your pores while you sleep.

  6. Step 6

Allow time for your moisturizer to dry before applying foundation. Moisturizer will help the foundation to go on more easily, but it will also cause streaks if applied too soon.

Tips & Warnings
  • Applying moisturizer to damp skin will allow you to use less and save money.
  • You can wear sunscreen over your moisturizer.
