Get and Have It All

Most women and men have someone in their lives who seems to have it all together: the loving circle of family and friends, enough wealth to satisfy, a great personality and perfect health. In short, these people seem to have it all.

Cosmopolitan Magazine talks to one such person in their article, "How to Be Rich, Sexy, and Famous." Ivanka Trump, daughter of hair icon and reality TV mogul Donald Trump, is a confident, intelligent lady who is on her way up. Recently married to New York Observer publisher Jared Kushner, she outlines a few tips that keep her going from day to day.

Let's not be naive: it helps to be born rich and hot, but there are always new ways to optimize what we have, and to boost our enjoyment of life. Here's how to have it all and get the most out of every moment.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • healthy food
  • means to exercise
  1. Step 1

Don't take the easy way out. This creates new challenges to scale and makes life interesting. Unlike other wealthy kids, Ivanka Trump didn't waste her potential on clubbing and shallow pursuits. Instead, she worked her way through the Wharton School of Finance. When there are two options, and one is in keeping with what you've always done, try the harder route for once. When you arrive at the end, you'll take more pleasure in the victory.

  2. Step 2

Make yourself your first priority. Women, especially, hear that their time doesn't belong to them. This is untrue. Personal development website eNotAlone states, "You might be consciously ignoring your needs and desires, but your subconscious mind has not forgotten about you and will constantly remind you through stress, anger, sadness, insecurity and feelings of failure." Use this time to set goals, read a book, look at investments, or go for a run. Taking time out to fulfill your needs is not a luxury, but a necessity.

  3. Step 3

Exercise and eat well. Without your health, you're nothing. It's not necessary to be stick-skinny to have a great life, but it does help to feel robust on the inside. Use that languishing gym membership or walk to the Post Office instead of hopping in the car. While shopping, stick to the outer perimeter of the store and purchase seasonal foods from local grocers. In the long run, you'll feel much improved and more ready to create the life you want.

  4. Step 4

Don't be afraid to look a fool and make a mistake. The largest success stories all had to start somewhere, and it's a sure bet that they made clowns of themselves along the way. "Some people in my industry are shocked by the brazenness of my requests, but they’re more shocked when the answer I get from the decision maker is okay. You have to be willing to embarrass yourself by laying claim to something so egregious that you may get laughed at for it," Ivanka states.

Remember: if you play it safe and risk nothing, that's what you'll get back.

  5. Step 5

Wow people by becoming the "It" girl or guy. Whether it's business or pleasure, folks want to feel at ease and that they're accepted. "Know your audience. People like aggressive styles or gentle styles or want to feel they’re your best friend," Trump states. This doesn't mean presenting a false front or being fake. What is does mean it that you should observe for a moment, find out where to fit in, and present yourself accordingly. Never push or browbeat.

  6. Step 6

Be confident enough to let things play out in their own time. Instant gratification often feels better in the moment because we wish to appease our sense of fear. Investors who let their stocks sit through rough times make more money in the end than people who balk and sell. Silence and time really are golden.

The same goes for negotiating. Trump says, "Always allow the other person to throw out the first offer, because you often over-calculate things and want to spill information you’ve gathered to prove yourself," she says.

Tips & Warnings
  • Goal-setting is crucial to reaching your dreams. Goals make it easy to track where and how you're progressing, as well as how close success is. Take a little time out to list some realistic aims that you can fulfill within a few months.
  • Remember, satisfaction is different for everyone. Don't rate the value of your life by others' standards. Avoid quantifying success by objects or acquisitions. Instead, a quality life is reached through enjoyment of the process.
