Things You'll Need:
- pencils
- pens
- paper
- your infant
- picture

Step 1
colored pencilsFirst of all decide what type of elements you want to add to your sketch. You need to decide on types of paper, pens, and pencils. There are many options as far as what sort of pencils can be used on your sketch. The charcoal pencil works great but your lines tend to more dominant, however, it is easy to blend. Colored pencils will give your sketch an entirely different look so it really is all about what you want to achieve with your drawing.
-
Step 2
sleeping infantNext step is to figure out how it would be best to sketch your child. The best option would be to try and do this while they are asleep or by using one of your favorite photographs. If you choose to sketch them while awake, it makes it harder to draw the fine lines if they are moving around everywhere.
-
Step 3
simple sketchLastly, do not put so much pressure on yourself to get it perfect the first time. Take your time with this experience. If you have to do one very simple sketch and then add to it as you go along, then do so. You can take your finished sketch and frame this for on a wall in your home or save it as a keepsake.

on 12/9/2009 What a timeless tressure, even if someone is like me and not the best artist. I found it helpful to take a black and white picture of my baby, so when drawing I would have less to distract me.
