Things You'll Need:
- A phone
-
Step 1
Your service member is not managing his own responsibilities. Perhaps it has been months since you have had a child support payment, or maybe they have not enrolled your child into Deers. These things happen, and when they do, his chain of command may be the only ones who can help you.
-
Step 2
First, call the base operator. The base operator's phone number is usually in the phone book or you can call 411. Get the number for his chain of command. If you do not know his chain of command, call the Red Cross, they can get it. Or, so can Family Advocacy, who can also help you in this process.
-
Step 3
When you get the phone number, call sometime earlier in the day, they may be out during the later part. Make sure you are talking to the right person, ask for his commanding officer. If you don't, you may be speaking to his best buddy, who may give you the brush off.
-
Step 4
When speaking to his commanding officer, make sure that you are telling the truth, giving exact dates, times, exact dollar amounts, everything. The more specific you are, the more able they are to help. Do not get emotional, especially mad. Make sure that you are polite, and well-mannered.
-
Step 5
If this does not work with his chain of command, and it may not. Go talk to family advocacy. Their whole job is to help you. Do not give up! If your service member is not doing what is right, make sure that you see to it that he does.
