There are tons of crafts that you can do around the holidays that are not only fun but can save you money in the long run. People spend lots of money on plenty of items that can be made right around the house. You can dress up your holiday with the sights of the season with small steps.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • leaves
  • acorns
  • pine cones
  • spray adhesive
  • clear sealant
  1. Step 1

Step up your chargers. For anyone who doesn’t know what these are they are decorative plates that are usually colored that go under your finer dishes. The color on the chargers can fade or even start to crack even when you wash them with care. Add to the color of your table by applying a spray adhesive and decorating them with common leaves from the trees. If the leaves are clean and dry you can spray them with hairspray and allow drying over night to retain their deep dark color. Then apply them to the chargers with the spray adhesive. Cover the entire thing with a coat or two of clear sealant that is food safe and you have a new set up dressed up décor for your dining room table.

  2. Step 2

You can dress up those chargers with matching napkin holders. A simple strip of thick paper hot glued together and you have a napkin holder. You can apply all kinds of cares to dress up the paper ring. Pinecones and evergreen clippings make great green filler. You can also pile on a few acorns and the browns will mix well with the green and not take away from the bold colors of the leaves on your chargers.

  3. Step 3

A great center piece tops off this table. Be sure to make sure all of the stuff is left out to dry and ensure that there are no bugs. A great center can be all types of things. Find two glass bowls and fill the outer one with colorful leaves, acorns, and pinecones. Place the smaller bowl inside to form a barrier. Then you can place a candle just the right size inside of the inner bowl. The inner bowl forms a great barrier keeping the fire away from all of the dried display items. Do not leave unattended.
