How to Build Multiple Streams of Passive Income From Writing
Writing is an increasingly popular way of earning passive income online. Most people never tend to earn enough to live on, and many will give up after realizing that the road to passive income isn't a get rich quick scheme. For those who are willing to put in the work however, multiple streams of passive income can be a lucrative reality.

1
Locate Paying Article Sites
The first step in making streams of passive income is to find a variety of writing sites, around 5 is a good number to begin with. Before you decide to sign up on any site in particular, you should check out the FAQ sections of the sites and look at a few reviews.A good way to check out how well the sites are doing is to look on Alexa and similar web companies to check how much traffic they are getting. The bigger sites obviously get more traffic and so tend to pay more than the smaller ones.
Some of the biggest on the web at the moment include Ehow (obviously) Helium, Associated content, Squidoo, Examiner. There are many others than these, and some people will fit better with certain sites than others, so always look around before you commit to anything.

Sign up to a Selection of Sites
When signing up to some sites, try to make sure that you get a variety of different site types. Some sites pay per click, some per view and others have an entirely secret formula that they don't tell the writers. Also the article formats are different from site to site, some ask for 'how to' articles, others for magazine style articles and others for more blog like entries. There are also sites whcih require a little web design as well as writing, which is something some like and others struggle with. The different methods tend not to have any particular benefits over the other. Click based sites will suddenly jump up in earnings, while the view based sites will steadily trickle along at a few pennies each day, but there isn't that much difference overall. -

3
Set Yourself a Goal
Next you should set yourself a goal of what you want to earn each month in passive income. Huge sums of money are probably out of the question, but some writers earn several thousand a month in passive income alone. Obviously your goal should also reflect how much work you are willing to put into it and how well/often you write as well. -
4
Produce some Articles
When starting out, try to write ten articles for each of the sites that you have signed up to, and vary the categories as much as possible. The reason for this is that certain sites tend to pay better for one category of article than another. For example one site might pay more for business articles, where another pays ore for health related articles. As a general rule, recipes, poetry and creative writing don't earn a lot on these kinds of sites unless they specialize in it. Passive income is based on a steady stream of people wanting to see your work, and these kinds of articles tend not to have that so much. So for a broad site these articles are often a waste of time in terms of earning a lot from them. Similarly seasonal articles will earn very well at the right time of year, but don't do much else for the rest of the time. They are worth writing every now and then, but they can make tracking average earnings more difficult because they spike once per year.

Do Some SEO Research
There are lots of E-books out there about how to write a successful article, and enough of them are free not to need to buy one yourself. Read about the SEO optimization and other tactics that other writers use and then apply the lessons to the articles you write in the future. Getting the basics of this right will increase your passive income greatly, and tweaking articles as you go is a good way to boost earnings as you learn new skills. -
6
Observe the Earnings Patterns
Wait about a week, and then come back to check what kind of views and earnings your articles are getting from the various sites. You should be able to see a pattern emerge as to what kind of articles are doing well at the moment and which have yet to earn much. -
7
Pick an Idea and Run with it
Select a few of the most successful categories and produce more articles on each of the sites. Try to aim for a hundred on each site for the first few months. This figure should allow you to see steady streams of passive income coming in from several sources. If any of the sites are not paying as well as the others by a big margin, then concentrate on the others, and always be on the lookout for new sites to try. -
8
Keep Writing Until you Meet Your Goal
By this point you should know what your strengths are as a writer and also what kinds of articles you tend to earn the most from. Simply write as many of these as your time allows, and you will sooner or later meet your passive income goal. It may take longer than you initially thought, but in the end it is worth it because you can take a day off and still earn money.
