Step 1
Choose a well-fitting knee-length dress in a solid color. Different figure types will do best with different silhouettes, but most women look great in v-neck dresses with a-line skirts that are fitted but not tight. Don't believe the myth that black is always slimming--this really depends on your coloring. Your best choice will be a color that looks great on *you* and makes you feel confident--those are usually the colors that make you look slender.
-
Step 2
Wear patterned tights. Fishnets and stripes (up and down, not side to side) make your legs look long and lean. The color should be as close as possible to your dress color for the longest, slimmest line.
-
Step 3
Wear 3+ inch heels. Platforms can make this height more comfortable. With or without platforms, though, be sure the shoes fit well. Pointy toes make your legs look longer when the shoes are the same color as your tights/pantyhose.
-
Step 4
Add a long, simple necklace. A long strand of pearls or simple chain with pendant are both great choices--they make your neck look longer, and also lengthen your upper half. For best results, choose a necklace in a contrasting color to your neckline so that it will stand out against your dress.
-
Step 5
Dab on a spicy floral fragrance. Studies show people underestimate a woman's weight by 12 pounds on average when she's wearing this kind of fragrance. With scents, always make sure to try them on yourself--they smell very differently with each individual's chemistry, and trying them on is the only way to find the right one for you.
