Guest drop in at the last minute, unexpected company comes for the holiday's, and other emergencies plans for entertaining and fun.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Extra food
  • Extra gifts
  • Extra energy!
  1. Step 1

Planning the holiday dinner and entertainment can be fun, but you have to plan for that extra guest and family who show at the last minute.
They know you love them and will take them in without question.

If family or guest drop in without prior notice and plan to stay the weekend your best plan of action is to have clean bedding and clean sheets. Place a dryer sheet in your linen closet between bedding for a quick fixer and scent. If nothing else works out during their visit at least you'll know they slept in fresh, clean and great smelling beds.

If you do not have extra beds keep an area clear for a quick floor bed and have an inflatable camp mattress handy.

  2. Step 2

Keep one extra container in the freezer of cookie dough. It's only one more baking without the mixing so you have the fresh baked smell throughout the house and a feeling of good old home baked cookies right from the oven.

An extra package of wafer cookies or sugar cookies help to stretch the desert when last minute guest arrive.

  3. Step 3

Use your crock pot to keep a simmering apple cider spice drink hot. When company drops in it makes a wonderful treat and warms the body, the soul and the heart of those who love you.

  4. Step 4

Keep an extra container of coffee and extra boxes of cocoa on hand. Hot drinks are more relaxing than cold drinks during the holiday season.

Use paper cups for hot drinks to cut down on the dishes you have to wash. This is your holiday too.

  5. Step 5

Buy a few extra generic gifts. You can buy boxed candy, nuts and fruits or boxes of chocolate drinks for drop ins. Extra pairs of good socks for men or women are always a welcome gift.

For children on the unexpected list wrap up clay and small card games. They will love the gifts and the fact you knew they were going to be there, and don't forget children are always happy to receive money especially when they reach their teen years.

  6. Step 6

Keep a few bottles of Sparkling Apple Cider to serve for the extra dinner guest.

To extend the dinner menu buy a frozen mac and cheese dish that can be taken from the freezer and heated quickly.

You have such a large selection in your froze food section so you can stock up with just a few extras.

If you don't use them now they will make a great meal or snack during the month to come.

Tips & Warnings
  • It's better to plan for extra than see a Christmas tear on the cheek of a child.
  • Don't buy expensive for extras.
