The meal can be a simple fare, but with just a few budget tips you can add a touch of elegance to your Christmas dinner.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Creative thought
  • Crystal cut glass
  1. Step 1

Use cloth napkins when you set your table and tie them with Christmas ribbon.

You can purchase inexpensive napkin rings from department stores such as Target or Walmart. Buy something in a plain color and style. You will be able to use it throughout the rest of the year at other family meals.

  2. Step 2

Serve butter in a candy dish. For a lovely touch use a melon baller to shape the butter in little circles.

Soften your butter the morning before your Christmas meal and mix with a teaspoon of honey. It will sweeten and soften the butter and provide a wonderful taste to everyone's surprise.

  3. Step 3

For an elegant center piece on a budget purchase tea light candles and votive holders at the Dollar Store. You only need three so it will come to four dollars. The candles come in a package.

Place the votive with candles in the center of the table and surround with a few fall leaves or low lying evergreen. You can even use Christmas ribbon as an added touch of color.

  4. Step 4

Purchase inexpensive, but good wine. Pour bottle into a cut glass decanter or pitcher from the Dollar Store. Serve in beautiful wine glasses purchased at the same store.

It is an expensive look and pleasure at a budget price.

  5. Step 5

Garnish each dinner plate with a couple of mint leaves. You can purchase mint as an herb or grow your own. The mint leaves will be a wonderful treat for everyone and leave a clean, fresh Christmas taste after the meal.

  6. Step 6

When you are ready to serve desert place a small doily on your desert dish. Make a heart or figure eight design with chocolate or strawberry syrup and place cut desert in the center.

Serve with sweeten tea or mocha coffee.
