Parenting includes using a lot of baby wipes!! We use them to change diapers, but also to clean hands, faces, pacifiers and the list goes on. They are very convenient, but can be very expensive. Learning to make your own baby wipes will save you money and also give you more control of what is going on your baby’s skin. You can also avoid the added perfume which can cause skin irritations. It is very simple to do and well worth the time.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Plastic container with tight lid
  • Thick, strong roll of white paper towels such as Bounty
  • Sharp knife
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 Tablespoons baby shampoo or baby wash
  • 1 Tablespoon baby oil
  1. Step 1

Cut the roll of paper towels in half with a knife. Remove the inner cardboard tube. Use one half for this batch and save the other half of the roll for next time.

  2. Step 2

Boil water and allow to cool to room temperature or you can use distilled water.

  3. Step 3

Combine baby shampoo and baby oil with the water and mix well.

  4. Step 4

Place the paper towels in the plastic container with the cut side facing downward. A used baby wipe container works well.

  5. Step 5

Secure lid tightly and allow paper towels to absorb the liquid for about 10 minutes. Turn the container upside-down and allow to sit for another 10 minutes.

  6. Step 6

Baby wipes can now be used. Start using by pulling your "wipes" from the center of the roll. Keep sealed when not in use to prevent evaporation.

Tips & Warnings
  • Store baby wipes in a zip lock bag or smaller plastic container for travel.
