Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

The first step is raking up all those leaves that have fallen from your trees. Rake and bag the leaves. If you have a compost pile you may want to add some of the leaves to compost.

  2. Step 2

Now that the leaves are raked up you should mow your lawn one last time for the season.

  3. Step 3

After mowing the yard you will need to use your garden sheers to trim back any bushes, shrubs, or perennial flowers.

  4. Step 4

Remove any dead flowers from your flower beds and place mulch around your perennial flowers.

  5. Step 5

If you have a irrigation system in your yard or flower beds you will need to disconnect it so it will not freeze during the winter. Make sure you contact a professional to do this if needed.

  6. Step 6

And the final step to winterizing your yard is unhooking all of your garden hoses and putting away all of your gardening tools.
