Step 1
Visit freelance sites where administrative professionals post ads for work. A good site for this is eLance.
-
Step 2
You can create a posting for the type of work you need. Let’s say you are seeking a virtual assistant to help with social networking and driving traffic to your website and blog.
-
Step 3
Create your posting after thoughtful consideration about exactly what you need. For example, you posting might say that you are seeking an SEO expert to work 10 hours a week optimizing your blog, managing your social media sites like Twitter and FaceBook, and posting ads for your business on CraigsList. Be very clear in your ad about exactly what you want done. Leave no room for assumptions or misunderstandings.
-
Step 4
Decide what you are willing to pay. You will find candidates that charge as little as $4 an hour. You can go through an administrative assistant agency, or hire an individual. Place your ad and evaluate the responses. The most important skill that a candidate must possess is excellent English skills. You can teach an assistant how to do just about any task, but you cannot teach them to have good English.
-
Step 5
As applicants answer your ad, review their feedback from other clients. Did they complete the job in a satisfactory manner? Was the work done on time? Is this the applicant’s first job?
-
Step 6
Hire a qualified candidate for a trial run, perhaps one week. Evaluate their work after this time and decide if you are satisfied with the work, or if you would like to let another assistant have a one week trial. You may have to repeat this process several times until you find the right person.
