Things You'll Need:
- Cleaning schedule
- Rewards system
- Organization

Step 1
The first step is to try to stay organized. Organization begins with having a place for everything and everything in its place. For example, kids books and DVDs can be creatively shelved on a bookcase or storage cabinet. Keeping a storage bench near the entryway to your home allows you a place to keep the kids coats, hats and gloves up and off the floor. It's also a great place for the kids to drop off their book bags when they get home from school. Hanging wall organizers are also a great idea for keeping your home clean, they are the perfect place for everything from barrettes to belts, and even small toys. Don't forget to give each kid a clothes hamper for their dirty clothes and make sure they use it.

Step 2
The next step is to establish a regular cleaning schedule for your children. Make every Saturday afternoon clean up time. Set aside 30 minutes for them to pick up their rooms and keep things organized and in their proper place. Maybe once a month, make clean up time an hour and enlist the kids help with vacuuming the floors and dusting throughout the house.

Step 3
Finally, another step is to keep your kids motivated and interested in keeping the home clean by treating them to special rewards. Sticker charts with rewards after so many stickers are earned are an easy and effective way to keep the kids in motivated to clean. Teaching your children to maintain a clean and organized living space is an important life skill that they will continually use for the rest of their lives.
