How to Get Mildew Odors Out of Colored Towels

Colored towels can acquire an offending mildew odor if not dried promptly or properly. Household bleach is not recommended for use on colors, so it is necessary to find alternate methods to eliminate this foul smell. Thankfully, other household items work efficiently to effectively eliminate odors from mildew affected laundry.

Things You'll Need

• Laundry detergent
• White vinegar
• Baking soda

Instructions

1. Wash towels in your washing machine with your regular laundry detergent.

2. Add 1 cup of white vinegar and 3 tbs. of baking soda to the washing machine at the beginning of the rinse cycle.

3. Dry the towels in your dryer on medium-low heat until they are just damp.

4. Remove the towels from the dryer and hang them on a clothes line or in a dry area of your home and allow them to finish air drying.
