How to Upload an MP3 to My iPod
Apple's iPod is a popular MP3 player for a number of reasons. One of those reasons is that you can easily add MP3 files on an iPod using the iTunes software. You can upload (or transfer) an MP3 file to an iPod within minutes, no matter if you have a Macintosh or Windows-based computer.

Download the free iTunes software to the desktop of the computer (see Resources). Click the iTunes icon on the desktop to install the program onto the computer's hard drive. Restart the computer, if necessary.

Connect the iPod to the computer using its USB cable.

Launch the iTunes software, if it did not launch automatically when you connected the iPod to the computer.

Click the icon of the iPod that appears on the left side of the iTunes window.

Click the "Edit" option from the menu at the top of the iTunes window, and then select the "Preferences" option. Click the "General" tab and then click the "Import Settings" button. Choose "MP3 Encoder" from the "Import Using" drop-down menu. Click the "OK" button to close the "Import Settings" window, and then close the "Preferences" window.

Make the iTunes window smaller, and then navigate to the MP3 file you want to upload to the iPod. Click and drag the MP3 file to the "Music" icon at the top of the left-hand iTunes window. Wait as iTunes imports a copy of the MP3 file into its library.

Click the iPod icon in the left-hand iTunes window. Select the "Music" tab in the main iTunes window, and then select the "Sync" option. Choose the "Entire music library" option to have iTunes upload its entire library to the iPod, or choose the "Selected playlists, artist, and genres" option to upload only media files you choose. If you select the second option, select the file(s) you want iTunes to upload to the iPod.

Click the "Sync" button in the lower right-hand corner of the iTunes window. Wait as iTunes uploads the MP3 file to the iPod.

Right-click the iPod icon in the left-hand window, and then select "Eject" from the pop-up menu.

Quit the iTunes application.

Disconnect the iPod from the computer, and then disconnect the USB cable from the iPod.

Navigate the MP3 file you uploaded to the iPod and begin playback.

Tips & Warnings
Play the MP3 file in iTunes before uploading it to the iPod to make sure it has no errors or issues.
Disconnecting the iPod from the computer without first ejecting it from iTunes can corrupt files stored on the iPod.
