How to Make a Crown of Thorns

Whether making a crown of thorns for a religious pageant, play or other activity, keep in mind that the project does not have to create something uncomfortable or painful for the wearer. Real thorns can store an irritant in the tip that can trigger allergies or other ailments. Using synthetic materials can give the proper look without the aggravation.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect the pipe cleaners, leaving two-inch ends. Form pipe cleaners into a circle to create the frame.

    • 2

Try on the crown frame to ensure proper fit. Bend the two-inch ends outward to simulate thorns.

    • 3

Weave additional pipe cleaners around the frame, folding ends toward the outside to give the appearance of thorns. Thorns should face both ways on the frame and should all be the same length. Look at images to make sure you use the right amount.
