How to Make a Relaxing Massage Oil
Creating a custom massage oil is not only relaxing, it can also be profitable. For just a few dollars, you can create a relaxing custom blend that you can use for yourself and your family or sell for several times the cost.
Instructions
-
Warm your base oil
-
1
Select the base oil you will use. Good carrier oils include jojoba (especially for dry skin), avocado, sweet almond, safflower or grapeseed.
-
2
Add a small amount of carrier oil, about an ounce or so, to the double boiler.
-
-
3
Warm the carrier oil gently, just so it is warm to the touch. You do not want to heat the oil to a smoking point or raise the temperature to the point the oil changes in structure.
Select and Add Your Essential Oil
-
4
Select one or two essential oils to add to your carrier oil. A good rule of thumb is to select one oil from the base, middle and top note category for your blend, depending on what you intend to achieve with your blend. Good blends include one from each category, but this is not absolutely necessary.
-
5
Add your essential oils one drop at a time. A good rule of thumb is five drops of essential oil to each teaspoon of carrier oil, or 15 drops total for each ounce of carrier oil.
-
6
Stir gently, and allow the blend to cool.
-
7
Some recommend reheating the oil, but this is not necessary. Instead, you can pour the oil into a small, dark-colored bottle with a lid, allowing you to dispense the oil one drop at a time.
