Some people spend a lot of time at their desks. During the summer, this can be a particularly hot experience. However, using a fan for your desk properly is one way to make spending the summer at your desk a lot more comfortable.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Get the right size fan for your desk. Don't get a square or box fan. You need a fan small enough to fit on your desk and not take up too much space, but big enough to keep you cool. Get a fan that stays still and doesn't make too much noise.

  2. Step 2

Find a spot for your fan. If you have a computer on your desk, make sure the fan does not cover your monitor. If you use your desk for writing, make sure that your fan does not blow air in a way that will blow sheets of paper off of your desk. Place the fan to point toward your face when you sit at your desk.

  3. Step 3

Clear the spot for your fan. Place the fan at the desired location.

  4. Step 4

Plug the fan into an electrical outlet. If you bought a battery powered fan, then make sure that you place fresh batteries in the proper location and in the proper order. Follow the diagram of how to put the batteries into the fan.

  5. Step 5

Test run the fan. Once you set up and plug in your fan, sit at your desk the way you would usually and turn on your fan. Make sure that the fan is blowing air at your face in a way that is comfortable for you.

  6. Step 6

Make any necessary adjustments if you are unhappy with the results of your fan after the test run. Point the fan in a different direction, move it to a different location or set to a higher or lower speed. Try a medium speed to keep yourself cool without too much noise. If the fan is set at a high level, both the noise and the amount of air hitting your face will be uncomfortable.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not let your fan rotate air around the room, this will waste energy and make your fan useless.
