Things You'll Need:
- Scented lotion
- Electric waterfall
- Scented candles
- Small plants
-
Step 1
Find a fitting location for the shower. It is hard to relax in a drafty VFW. hall. A relaxation-themed baby shower is better suited to an intimate setting such as someone's home.
-
Step 2
Request that guests come in relaxed attire. Traditionally, women get dressed in their "Sunday best" to come to a baby shower. Because the shower you are planning is based on a relaxation theme, you will want guests to come in lounge wear. Be sure to clearly explain the theme so that no one is embarrassed by showing up in the wrong clothing.
-
Step 3
Plan a menu that reflects comfort food. Comfort food includes items such as fried chicken, mashed potatoes and homemade macaroni and cheese. "Real Simple" magazine includes chicken pot pie, homemade pizza and meatloaf among the favorites in comfort food. (See the reference section for a link to some great recipes.)
-
Step 4
Begin the shower with the meal. Guests will be much more able to relax once they have eaten. After serving the meal, provide a table laden with hot water, packets of relaxing tea and various cookies and pastries for everyone to enjoy at a leisurely pace as the shower progresses.
-
Step 5
Use relaxing, pampering items as centerpieces and party favors. Place a collection of soothing, calming lotions arranged on a mirror in the center of the table. Wrap travel sized bottles of lotion in tissue paper, secured with ribbon to offer as party favors.
-
Step 6
Keep relaxation in mind as you decorate for the shower. Use a small, electric waterfall to fill the room with soothing sounds of water gently crashing over rocks. Create candlescapes using aromatherapy candles to fill the room with a calming scent. (See the resource section for ideas on using candles.) Instead of paper decor, purchase small, green plants and use them to add color to the room.
