How to Use Preen Weed Killer

Preen Weed and Grass Killer is a ready-to-use spray for the control of a broad spectrum of emerged annual and perennial weed species. Its use will effectively control unwanted species of grass, sedge, broadleaf weeds, and certain woody species around trees, shrubs and fences.

As it is nonselective, Preen Weed and Grass Killer will combat the growth of all vegetation, and is therefore not recommended for spot weed control in lawns.

Preen Weed and Grass Killer is available in a ready-to-use bottle for spot treatments, or in a concentrate for ridding large areas of weeds. The lawn pest control product works best when applied when the unwanted vegetation is actively growing. The chemical that is not absorbed breaks down and the residual natural materials will not harm valuable vegetation, making it safe to use around trees, plants and shrubs that you want to keep.

Instructions

Preen Weed and Grass Killer Ready to Use

1. Adjust the sprayer tip to deliver coarse spray droplets to the individual weeds.

2. Protect valuable vegetation from overspray with a barrier of plastic or cardboard.

3. Spot spray the targeted vegetation.

4. Spray until targeted vegetation is completely wet.

5. Immediately rinse any plants mistakenly targeted by weed killer with water.

Concentrated Preen and Pump-up Sprayers

1. Determine square footage of area to be treated.

2. Pour 1 gallon of water into the pump sprayer per 300 square footage of area to be treated.

3. Add 2 1/2 fluid ounces (5 tablespoons) of Preen weed killer per gallon of water.

4. Spray evenly using 1 gallon of mixture over a 300-square-foot area until vegetation to be removed is thoroughly wet.

5. Immediately rinse any plants mistakenly targeted by weed killer with water.

Concentrated Preen with Hose-End Sprayer

1. Determine square footage of area to be treated.

2. Unscrew the sprayer lid from the container.

3. Add 8 fluid ounces of Preen weed killer for each 1000-square-foot area to be treated.

4. Reattach the container to the sprayer lid.

5. Set the dial to 2 1/2 ounces or 5 tablespoons.

6. Turn on the water.

7. Uniformly spray a 1000-square-foot area.
