Agaves are blue, green or gray succulents with a rosette shape. They have wide leaves with sharp points at the tips, grow slowly and die after flowering. The plants store water in their leaves, which means they need little care. Agave plants thrive in pots.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Large plant pot
  • Potted agave
  • Cactus/succulent soil mixture
  • Small piece of screen
  • Cactus soil
  1. Step 1

Lay the agave's pot on its side and hit it several times to loosen the soil.

  2. Step 2

Shake the plant and soil out of the pot.

  3. Step 3

Use your hands and break the root ball, the area where the soil and roots have mixed together. Set the agave aside.

  4. Step 4

Put a screen over the drainage hole in a plant pot.

  5. Step 5

Fill the pot to the halfway point with a cactus and succulent soil mixture.

  6. Step 6

Set the agave plant into the pot and begin pouring the soil mixture around the plant.

  7. Step 7

Pack the soil down around the plant by pressing two fingers into the soil.

  8. Step 8

Pour and pack a thin layer of cactus soil into the pot.
