Things You'll Need:
- Vinegar
- White cloth
- White paper towels
- Spray bottle
- Dish detergent
- Paint thinner
- Krud Kutter
- Hydrogen peroxide
-
Step 1
Pretest your carpet. Take a small amount of cleaner and place it on a white cloth. Place and hold the cloth to an unimportant piece of the carpet for 30 to 60 seconds. If the carpet does not bleed color onto the cloth, it should be safe to treat.
-
Step 2
Clean up and absorb as much latex paint off the carpet or upholstery with a white paper towel or napkin.
-
Step 3
Make a cleaning solution by mixing 1 tsp. dish washing detergent (detergent that does not contain alkaline or bleach compounds) with 1 cup of tepid water.
-
Step 4
Mix 1/3 cup white vinegar and 2/3 cup water together to create a neutralizer. Place this solution in a spray bottle and spray after you do the initial cleaning to remove moisture.
-
Step 5
Place some cleaning solution on your white cloth. Blot the stain, starting with the outside edges and moving inward toward the stain. Do not rub or scrub the stain and do not apply heat. Repeat the process as often as you need until you remove the stain. Rinse the stained area with water. Blot the area with your towel to remove leftover moisture.
-
Step 6
Place paper towels on the stained area and weigh it down with a heavy object, such as a brick or a stack of books and leave it for several hours. This will draw out all the moisture.
-
Step 1
Take your clothing that is stained and place the stained area under running water. Make sure the water is warm. Allow the water to flush out residue paint.
-
Step 2
Gently rub a cloth with paint thinner into the spot and repeat until the stain is gone. Be careful. Paint thinner may remove color from your clothing. Always pretest the fabric.
-
Step 3
If this does not work, take Krud Kutter, a commercial cleaning product found in hardware stores. Spray it directly onto the latex paint stain. Let it sit for about 30 minutes and repeat if the stain does not come out immediately.
