How to Wash Sneakers in a Front Load Washer

Many sneakers can be washed in a front-load washer if care is taken to protect against shrinkage and unnecessary wear during the wash cycle. Check the label of the sneaker, inside the tongue or along the inside edge, to verify that the sneakers are washable.

Step 1

Remove the shoestrings from the sneakers and place them in a lingerie bag or tie them into a sock. Spray them with stain remover if necessary. Place them in the washing machine.

Step 2

Place the sneakers and two towels inside the front-load washer. Add the amount of detergent you normally would use for a small load. Select the smallest load option on the front-load washer.

Step 3

Se the water temperature to cold and start the washer. Wait for the entire cycle to be completed.

Step 4

Remove the sneakers and allow them to air-dry. Hang the shoestrings and allow them to air-dry.
