      Lightly spray the surface of any stainless steel pot, pan, or kettle with a canned cooking oil spray. Alternatively pour between one and two ounces of vegetable oil and rotate the cookware in slow circles, allowing the oil to coat the entire bottom surface. Add food and try to stay away from using the highest heat settings, opting for medium-high heat at a maximum instead.

      Use wooden or nylon cooking utensils to stir food in your stainless steel cookware to prevent metal-to-metal scratching. Although scratches on the surface of stainless steel cookware are mostly cosmetic irritations, a high number of scratches on the bottom of such cookware can cause greater chances of food sticking and burning to the bottom of your cookware.

      Wash your cookware immediately after use, if possible, to prevent any further sticking of food. If food does stick, fill the cookware with hot, soapy water, and allow it to sit overnight to loosen the food from the bottom. Wash thoroughly the next day, using a nylon scratch pad to scrub any remains from the bottom. Rinse and let dry.

Tips & Warnings

  • Never allow empty stainless steel cookware to sit on a hot oven burner as this may damage the stainless surfaces, discoloring the cookware at the very least.
