Instructions

    • 1

Pour a can of green beans into a colander and set in the sink.

    • 2

Run cold water over the beans until all the liquid has been washed away. You can either heat the green beans in a little water seasoned with butter and serve or follow the remaining steps to dress up the canned beans.

    • 3

Dice up a slice of bacon and put into a sauce pan. About one slice per can of string beans. Turn the heat to medium high.

    • 4

Sauté diced onion and mushrooms with the bacon. Stir so that the mixture does not burn. Add about 1/8 cup onions and three whole mushrooms, sliced, for each can of green beans.

    • 5

Run hot water from the sink over the green beans to take off the chill and warm up. Drain.

    • 6

      Boil water in a teapot.

    • 7

Add the drained green beans to the sauce pan when the onions are soft and bacon cooked. At the same time add three tablespoons of boiling water for each can of green beans.

    • 8

Add a ½ tablespoon of butter for each can of string beans.

    • 9

Stir to combine until the green beans are well heated. Season with seasoning salt and pepper.
