How to Wash Nylon Gloves

Wearing gloves for protection from the elements is much older than wearing gloves for fashion's sake. According to the History of Gloves, "Gloves are of great antiquity and their story goes back to prehistoric times. They were worn by cavemen to protect their hands and took the form of bags resembling a primitive type of mitten--a glove with fingers and a gauntlet covering the forearm." Nylon gloves, often in the form of white gloves of varying lengths, are worn for a multitude of reasons. Washing nylon gloves is a simple process. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Fill washbasin with cold water, and mix a mild detergent into the water with your hand until bubbly.

    • 2

Examine the nylon gloves for stains or particularly soiled areas, such as the fingertips. Treat with spray stain remover if necessary. Allow for the time suggested on the manufacturer's label for the spray stain treatment to soak into the fabric of the glove.

    • 3

Place the gloves into the washbasin with sudsy water. Agitate the water with your hand. Gently squeeze the gloves in the water. Verify that soiled areas are clean.

    • 4

Rinse the gloves in cold water under the running tap or in another basin of clean, fresh water.

    • 5

Place the towel on a flat cabinet surface, placing both gloves flat on top of the towel. Fold the towel over on top of the gloves, and gently press with the palm of your hand, squeezing the water from the gloves.

    • 6

Place the gloves on a glove stretcher, or roll tubes of paper towels and insert them into the fingers. Allow to dry in a cool, dry area.

Tips & Warnings

  • Glove stretchers are more difficult to come by. Check a golf pro shop as they are a good source for purchasing glove stretchers.
