"Contra" is a side-scrolling action video game developed by Konami in 1987. The game's frantic, explosive style proved highly popular among gamers, and the series has since seen several sequels and re-releases. Gaming critics often cite the game as one of the best of all time, and retro gamers still play the NES version decades after its release. The game's brutal difficulty makes it a challenge for even the most seasoned gaming veteran, and the famous "30 lives code"--also known as the Konami code because of its use in several other Konami games--is a must for novices.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Turn on the game and wait for the title screen to appear.

  2. Step 2

Quickly press "Up," "Up," "Down," "Down," "Left," "Right," "Left," "Right," "B," "A," and "Start."

  3. Step 3

Begin the game. You will have 30 extra lives.
