How to Freeze Sugared Blackberries
Blackberries are great in pies, cobblers, scones, jam, and muffins. Blackberries are only in season from May to October, so freezing them will allow you to enjoy them all year long. Adding a little bit of sugar to the blackberries before you freeze them will bring out their sweetness and make them last several months. Obtain fresh and ripe blackberries. They should be frozen at their best.

Place the blackberries in a colander or sieve, and wash well with cold water.

Allow the blackberries to dry. You can leave them in the colander until nearly all of the water drains out or place them on paper towels to dry.

Sprinkle the blackberries with sugar. Use about 1/2 cup of sugar for every pound of berries. gently toss the berries with the sugar until they are well coated.

Place a single layer of the sugared blackberries on a cookie sheet. This will keep the blackberries from sticking together as they freeze.

Freeze the berries for about 24 hours, or just until frozen.

Put the sugared blackberries in freezer bags. Seal the bags as tightly as possible and try to press all of the air out of the bag.

Label each bag and add the date that the blackberries were frozen.

Place the bags of sugared blackberries back into the freezer. They should keep in the freezer for six months to a year.
