1
Place a drumstick between your index and ring finger. Center and balance the drumstick as best as possible allowing the stick to balance on its own. It is usually easiest to controlling the spinning using the fingers you have the best control over and receive the most use. These two fingers are also used to support the drumstick while drumming, so it will be easy to replace the stick for drumming and spinning it during a song.

2
Rotate your index and ring fingers in a motion similar to imitating walking with your fingers on a table. The weight of the ends of the drumstick will move it in a spinning motion. The more force you use to move your fingers, the more active spinning the drumstick will achieve. The ends will be spinning in opposite circles so perfect balance is a must, or the stick may come out of the crevice between these fingers.

Place a drumstick in the center of your palm with your hand facing upward, making sure the butt end of the drumstick is facing toward your body. This is a great spot to start a palm spin with a drum stick.

Close your hand on the stick, grasping the top of the stick with your thumb. The stick should be facing away from your body to the right at a 45-degree angle. Thrust the stick to the right, releasing your fingers in order from your pinkie to your index, allowing the stick to spin on the raised area of your palm.

Allow the stick to spin on your open palm, and reclasp your drum stick as it arrives in the position you first started in, or allow the stick to continue again for another 360-degree rotation. Do not allow the drumstick to stop at any time while it is spinning as the momentum is what keeps it in place.
