How to Restore Burnt Pots and Pans

Pots and pans with burnt food remnants on the bottom can present a challenge to any homemaker. From minor messes to serious burnt meals, there is a proven method to help get these troublesome pieces of cookware clean. Getting the desired results may take a bit of time and effort, but burnt pots and pans are not a lost cause.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    Fill the pot or pan with enough water to cover the stain by at least an inch. Squirt in a pea size dollop of dish soap and heat to boiling.

  2. Step 2

    Remove the cookware from the heat and leave to sit for at least 30 minutes.

  3. Step 3

    Rinse the soapy water from the pot or pan and scrape off the burnt food. This may take care of the problem completely. If burnt areas remain, proceed to the next step.

  4. Step 4

    Make a thick paste of water and baking soda. Rub this paste over the stain and let set for at least an hour.

  5. Step 5

    Rinse away the baking soda along with the burnt stains beneath. Wash your cookware as usual before using again.
