How to Lighten Blond Hair Naturally

Blond hair always looks best in the spring and summer, especially for those that spend a lot of time in the sun. Blonds get a natural brightness to their hair as the sun bleaches it. However, during autumn and winter blond hair can darken and lose its shine. The obvious solution is dye, but chemical dyes and peroxide can damage your hair and make it brittle. The best hair lighteners are natural ones, specifically chamomile and lemon juice. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Bring a pint of water to a boil. Steep two chamomile tea bags in the water for half an hour. Remove the tea bags and stir in two tablespoons of lemon juice. Allow the mixture to cool.

    • 2

Bottle the chamomile and lemon mixture in a spray bottle. Place any excess in a sealed container and store in the refrigerator. It has a shelf life of about two weeks.

    • 3

Wash you hair as normal and towel it lightly. Your hair should still be mostly wet. Spray the chamomile-lemon mixture over your hair evenly, from roots to ends. Comb the mixture through with a comb or paddle brush.

    • 4

Squeeze a quarter-sized dollop of leave-in conditioner into your palm. Starting with the ends, finger comb this through your hair, then comb it through evenly. Since chamomile can dry out hair, this will keep your hair soft and also help set the color.

Repeat steps 3 and 4 each time you shower, until your hair is the desired lightness, then use the mixture about once a week.
