Roasted Pumpkin Seeds

Making roasted pumpkin seeds is a Halloween tradition. Set aside some for next years planting and bake the rest for a delicious family treat.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pumpkin Seeds
  • Butter
  • Salt
  • Worcestershire Sauce
  1. Step 1

After cutting the lid to the pumpkin scoop out the stringy pulp and seeds onto a newspaper. Sort the pulp from the seeds.

  2. Step 2

Place the seeds in a strainer and rinse them under water for a few minutes. Run your fingers through the pile of seeds to make sure they are clean. If any have signs of molding or being bad then pitch those in the trash.

  3. Step 3

Preheat the oven to 250 degrees Fahrenheit. Boil the seeds in salt water for about 10 minutes.

  4. Step 4

Drain the seeds into a strainer then spread them out on paper towels to dry.

  5. Step 5

Place the seeds in a bowl and toss with oil or butter. Then spread them out on a baking sheet for roasting.

  6. Step 6

Place the baking sheet inside the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes. Three or four time during the baking process give the seeds a stir so they will bake evenly and be crisp and golden brown.

  7. Step 7

Cool the seeds, place them in a bowl for serving or package them in an airtight container for later.

Tips & Warnings
  • Season the seeds with either chili seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, or sweeten them with brown sugar and cinnamon.
