Things You'll Need:
- Putty knife
- Pliers
- Knife
- Glass
- Faux Glass Adhesive Design Paper
-
Step 1
Remove the cabinet door and using a combination of putty knife, pliers, and knife remove the glass inserts. You may want to do this outside on a tarp if you are afraid it will break. Remember to wear gloves and safety glasses for your protection.
-
Step 2
Measure the inserts and go to your local hardware store and request them to cut new pieces of glass the same size. This should not have to be ordered, they should be able to do it while you wait.
-
Step 3
Purchase the style of decorative window film you would like to put on the cabinet inserts. See tips for more details.
-
Step 4
Using the new glass as a template, cut the window film to the same size as the glass. Use one cup of water with a few drops of soap to apply the window film like you would wallpaper. Use your hand, a credit card, or a squeegee to smooth out air bubbles.
-
Step 5
Allow the film and glass to cure for about 10 days. Then using a hot glue gun, reinstall the new glass, film side in, by placing a thick bead of glue about 2 inches in length at the bottom of the glass and on each side. This will hold the glass inserts in the door frame.
