Blogger.com is a popular website for creating blogs. Blogs created here are also called blogspot blogs, because blogspot is the domain in the website address. Sources of traffic and visitors to these blogs can be tracked easily using Google analytics.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Create an account with Google Analytics.

  2. Step 2

Log into your Google Analytics account and your Blogger account.

  3. Step 3

    At the Google Analytics Website:
Select "Add Website Profile," at the bottom of the page.
Copy and paste the URL of your blogspot blog into the website field. Do not include http:// at the beginning of the URL.
    Click the finish button.
You will be taken to a new screen within the Google Analytics website.
Scroll down to the box that says, "copy and paste this code to your site."
Highlight the code and press the control and c buttons on your keyboard at the same time to copy the code.

  4. Step 4

    In your Blogger.com account:
Select the “Layout” button to edit your blog.
Select the “Add a Gadget” button.
Scroll down to the “HTML/Javascript” Option. Select this Gadget.
    Leave the Title Blank.
    Click the “Content” box.
Press control and P on your keyboard at the same time to paste the code into the content box.
Click “Save” at the bottom, to save the code.

  5. Step 5

Return to the Google Analytics Website.
Select “Save and Finish” at the bottom of the page.
From your account overview, find your newly added blog in the list.
On the left side of the screen there is an edit button for the new blog, select “edit.”
At the top of the screen there is an exclamation point icon that says, “tracking not installed.”
    Select “check status.”
If the code was properly saved to your blogspot blog, the tracking status will change to “Waiting for Data
Analytics has been successfully installed and data is being gathered now.”

Tips & Warnings
  • If your blog receives more than 5 million views each month, consider using StatCounter instead of Google Analytics.
